Residential Search Warrants and Operational Planning

The morning session is a hands-on workshop led by a prosecutor that shows you how to author a California-compliant residential search warrant based on a mock case, ensuring your warrant stands up in court. The afternoon focuses on operational planning and risk mitigation strategies with a seasoned homicide detective, focusing on safely executing warrants for the community and law enforcement while documenting evidence collection to ensure your evidence is admitted in court.

Morning Session:
Advanced legal insights: Legal analysis from assault on a peace officer through second degree murder, applicable sentencing enhancements and more. We provide officers and detectives with a clear road map to effectively utilizing the penal code and jury instructions to investigate underlying offenses that prompt a use of force encounter such as PC 69, 148.10, 422, 245(c), 664-187, VC 2800.2, and more.
Live mock courtroom: Attendees will participate in mock criminal hearings with direct and cross examination. We stress-test reports in real time to build the skillsets required for surviving aggressive proceedings.
Afternoon session:
Application of lethal force: A deep dive into AB392 and guidelines for law enforcement officers in 2026.
OIS and Critical Incident Interviews: Professional guidelines for sworn law enforcement officers in the wake of a critical incident - ensuring officers understand the full scope of their interview to be in compliance with state law and department policies while ensuring total transparency.
Take-home materials: A comprehensive guide for officers, detectives and supervisors to decrypt complicated law that will ensure violent criminal offenders are brought to justice when they harm a peace officer in the line of duty.
